And Just Like That …

With the completion of Come Autumn, Sae Pensive, the Epithalamium Series is (finally!) complete.

That’s three novels, one novella, one novelette, and seven short stories, clocking in at 358,000 words written over fifteen years. Phew

When I started this thing back in 2010, I had some plot and character ideas and a vague notion of the direction I wanted to take the story in, but I had no idea it would become a series, cover as much ground, or take as long as it has to complete.

Minerva and Albus have occupied a significant portion of my fannish brain for more than a decade, and I think it’s time to give them a well-deserved rest after all their travails.

This is not to say that I’m completely done with them, separately or together. It’s quite possible that a few more bits and bobs may turn up here and there—like what the amazing dueltastic has dubbed the “DVD Extras” to their magnum opus—in the Epithalamium universe. But I think the major arc of the series is now complete. It’s not an entirely happy story, I realize, but few true love stories are, and what I wanted to achieve was some truth—even in the context of a fantasy story.

The (fake) “Chinese curse” may you live in interesting times certainly applied to my favorite HP couple, but I think they were happy in their way.

I’m ever thankful for the folks who’ve stuck with the series, and I hope they’ve enjoyed reading it (almost) as much as I have written it.
