Mad Dogs and Scotsmen

Creator: delphi
Rating: T/PG-13
Warning(s): Descriptions of post-traumatic stress disorder and the unorthodox treatment thereof.
Word Count: 2,800
Summary:

"Growing up in the country with old-fashioned grandparents, you slapped a poultice on whatever ailed you and hoped for the best. Dragon pox, a broken arm, being stuck in a trunk for ten months. Either you got well or you didn't, and that was that." Or, the one in which Emmeline chose a bad month to quit smoking.

Characters: Alastor Moody, Emmaline Vance
Why You Should Check It Out:

I love the way the author sets up the history and friendship so economically, and the way the story unfolds is just perfect. Delphi has made Alastor's paranoia so real and visceral--reading made me feel slightly claustrophobic. And Emmaline's frustration and obvious affection are so believable. She knows just how to deal with him; not everyone would.
