Its amazing how close you can get to someone and still love them.
This one-shot is one of the few Severus/Minerva fics I've read that deals honestly with the realities (okay, Potterverse realities) of a relationship between these two characters, including the age disaparity, the fact that he was her student, the war, and, perhaps most importantly, the utter absurdity of two such different personalities falling in love. The absurdity is, of course, part of what makes it work, and the author gets inside Severus's head and captures his voice so eloquently on the topic.
