The glimpses the author gives us of how Severus got to be who he has become are intriguing, and the way Voldemort thoroughly misunderstands him (and the castle, and the idea of wizarding blood "purity") is delicious. The description of Severus's infuriating-to-Voldermort lack of emotion is wonderful.
